What does it mean when my booking is confirmed, declined or expired?

When you complete the last step of your booking process and click SUBMIT, your host gets the booking request and 48 hours window for confirming or declining it; otherwise, it will be expired.

Your booking is confirmed
when you receive the automatic message saying your host confirmed the booking. When the booking is confirmed, your account is charged for the total costs of the booking.

Your booking is declined
when you receive the automatic message saying your booking is declined. That could happen for several reasons; your host confirmed the booking for the same days on another platform or has personal reasons not to accept it (illness, etc.).
From the moment of sending a booking request until the booking is declined, the platform holds the authorisation of the amount - the total booking cost. That means you can't temporarily dispose of those funds but your account has not been charged yet. The reserved amount is released when a booking is declined, and the money is at your disposal. Please note that this procedure usually lasts 7-15 days for the majority of banks, and has nothing to do with the platform.

Your booking is expired
when your host doesn't respond to your booking request in 48 hours, and you receive the automatic message your booking is expired.
